Family Therapy
Every family is unique.
Families experience seasons of growth, change, and challenge. Rather than focusing on one individual as the problem, family therapy looks at how family members interact with one another and how those patterns may be contributing to the challenges the family is experiencing.
Find understanding.
We recognize that behaviors often communicate underlying needs, emotions, or stressors. Rather than assigning blame, we work to help family members better understand what is happening beneath the surface.
-
Families seek therapy for many reasons, including:
Parent-child conflict
Communication difficulties
Behavioral concerns involving children or adolescents
Family stress and ongoing conflict
Divorce, separation, or co-parenting challenges
Blended family adjustments
Grief and loss
Major life transitions
Mental health concerns affecting the family
School-related challenges
Sibling conflict
Military deployments, relocations, and reintegration
Trauma or significant family stressors
Family therapy can be beneficial whether challenges have been present for years or have recently emerged.
-
Family therapy helps family members better understand one another's experiences, perspectives, and needs. Through improved communication and healthier interactions, families often experience greater connection, trust, and stability.
Family therapy may help your family:
Improve communication and listening skills
Reduce conflict and misunderstandings
Strengthen parent-child relationships
Develop healthier family boundaries
Increase understanding and empathy
Improve problem-solving skills
Support children and adolescents through challenges
Strengthen family relationships during life transitions
Build a more connected and supportive home environment

Family therapy sessions are active, collaborative, and focused on improving interactions between family members.
During sessions, family members are encouraged to share their perspectives, discuss concerns, and work together toward common goals. Your therapist helps facilitate conversations, improve communication, and identify patterns that may be contributing to conflict or misunderstanding.
Depending on your family's needs, sessions may include:
The entire family
Parents and children together
Parent-only sessions
Individual family members when appropriate
The structure of therapy is based on what will be most helpful in supporting the family's goals.

At Find True North Therapy, we understand that every family is unique. We take a collaborative, family-centered approach that focuses on identifying strengths while addressing the challenges that may be impacting family relationships.
Our therapists utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed, and attachment-focused approaches to help families better understand patterns of interaction and develop healthier ways of relating to one another.
Treatment is tailored to the specific needs and goals of each family.
The goal is not to create a “perfect” family…..
The goal is to help family members feel more connected, supported, and equipped to navigate life's challenges together. To do that, we will identify the areas that need attention and develop a plan that supports positive change. As therapy progresses, families often report improved communication, stronger relationships, increased understanding, and greater confidence in handling future challenges.
