My name is Scott, and I am a mental healthcare intern and student at Liberty University. I am committed to supporting individuals on their journey toward improved mental well-being. I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve the wonderful people of Waynesville and Fort Leonard Wood. I grew up in a military family. My father is a retired Air Force Major. In February, after September 11th, 2001, I signed my first Army contract and served in the military for nine years as a Chaplain Assistant (56M). I was honorably discharged in 2011 after serving two tours in Iraq with Military Police Battalions serving as part of the Religious Support Team.
Since that time, I have served as a children’s pastor and as lead pastor. My professional goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), so I can continue to serve people in that capacity. I know what life is like on both sides of the military family, deployed and at home. For over 20 years, my wife and I have maintained a strong family in both the military and civilian worlds, and together we are raising two boys, ages 9 and 11, and two girls, ages 16 and 18.
My academic background has provided me with a solid foundation in counseling techniques, psychological assessment, and evidence-based interventions. I am passionate about fostering an environment where clients feel empowered to address their mental health challenges and achieve their personal goals. My approach to therapy is to work collaboratively with my clients to identify what method works for them. I look forward to working with adults, children, families, and couples in both counseling and coaching capacities.
My goal is to help you to realize your goals so your life can be as complete as possible!

Hi! My name is Amelia Berns (She/Her). I am a Social Work Student at Grand Canyon University working towards my Master of Social Work (MSW). I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Waynesville and Fort Leonard Wood community, a community I am proud to call home as a military spouse.
I grew up in the Bay Area of Northern California before attending Norwich University, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology and a concentration in criminology. After graduating in 2024, I worked at a Victims Assistance Center near Fort Drum, New York, where I discovered my true passion. Sitting with people as they worked through their hardest moments and moved toward their own goals, I knew this was the work I was meant to do.
I enrolled in a Master of Social Work program in January 2025 and have been attending full-time while completing clinical internships. I expect to graduate in April 2027 and am committed to continuing my professional education until I reach full licensure.
As a military spouse, I understand firsthand what it means to navigate uncertainty, build resilience in unfamiliar places, and find your footing when the ground keeps shifting. That lived experience shapes how I show up for my clients.
My approach begins with where you are. I believe the therapeutic relationship is built on trust and respect, and that meaningful progress starts when a client feels genuinely seen and supported. I work collaboratively to identify what methods work best for each individual, and I am passionate about helping people take ownership of their path forward.
I look forward to working with individuals, couples, children, and families. Whatever brought you here, the starting point is simply when you are ready. I would be honored to walk alongside you.
